Babilim Terms of Service
DRAFT — not yet published. Items marked [OWNER] need a decision before publication.
Last updated: [OWNER: date of publication]
These terms govern your use of the Babilim translation service ("the Service") at https://api.babilim.org, its checkout page, the website babilim.org, and the Babilim WordPress plugin's connection to it. The Service is operated by [OWNER: legal name of the operator] ("we", "us"). By pressing "Enable Babilim" in the plugin, or by buying a license, you agree to these terms.
1. What the Service does
The Service provides translation files (.po, .mo, .json) for WordPress plugins and themes installed on your site. Translations are produced automatically by AI models. There is no human review, and we do not edit or modify the source code of any plugin or theme. Translations of the same component version are shared: a translation made for one site is provided to every other site that installs the same component version.
2. Free use
Every site may use the Service free of charge for a limited number of components listed on WordPress.org (currently one theme and two plugins per domain). The free allowance may change. Components not listed on WordPress.org, and components beyond the free allowance, need a paid license.
3. Paid license
- Price. A license is a one-time payment per site. The price is shown on the checkout page before you pay (currently USD 8.99). Prices may change for future purchases; a change never affects a license already bought.
- Duration. A license has no expiry date and includes all future translation updates for as long as the Service operates.
- What it is bound to. A license belongs to the verified WordPress installation that bought it on that domain. It does not pass to a new owner of the domain.
- Restore code. After payment you receive a restore code, shown once. If you reinstall the plugin on the same domain, entering the restore code reconnects the license. You can show a new restore code from the plugin's settings at any time; the previous code then stops working. Keep it safe: anyone with the code can move the license to a new installation on the same domain.
- Moving to another domain. Moving a license to a different domain is done by us on request at [OWNER: support e-mail].
- Multisite. One license covers a WordPress multisite network, based on its main site.
4. Payment
Payments are handled by Paddle.com Market Ltd / Paddle.com Inc. ("Paddle"), our merchant of record. When you buy a license you buy it from Paddle: Paddle charges you, issues the receipt, and handles sales tax or VAT. The price shown at checkout (currently USD 8.99) includes any applicable tax. Paddle's Checkout Buyer Terms apply to the purchase: https://www.paddle.com/legal/buyer-terms. We never receive or store your card or bank details.
5. Refunds
Refunds are handled by Paddle under its refund policy: https://www.paddle.com/legal/refund-policy. See our refund page for how this applies to Babilim: https://babilim.org/refund/.
The license gives you immediate access to digital content. By downloading a translation file under a paid license you ask us to start supplying that content right away and acknowledge that, where the law gives you a 14-day right to withdraw from a purchase of digital content (for example Directive 2011/83/EU, Article 16(m)), you lose that right once supply has begun.
If a payment is refunded in full or charged back for any reason, the license bought with it is revoked. Translation files already installed on your site keep working; only access to new files and updates under the paid license ends.
6. Usage limits
To keep costs under control, the Service limits how many new translation jobs it starts per domain and in total each day. When a limit is reached the request is declined and can be repeated the next day. These limits apply to free and paid sites alike.
7. Uploading a component's source
For a component not listed on WordPress.org, the plugin can upload the component's source after you confirm. By uploading you confirm that you have the right to provide it to us for translation. We keep the upload so that later versions and corrections can be translated, and the original text and translations made from it are provided to other sites that install the same component version. We never distribute the uploaded code itself. You can ask us to delete an upload at [OWNER: support e-mail].
8. Acceptable use
Do not use the Service to upload material you have no right to share, to interfere with the Service or other users, or to obtain translations for sites you do not control.
9. No warranty
Translations are machine-generated and may contain errors. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. You can report a translation problem from the plugin.
10. Liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the license concerned in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
11. Changes and ending the Service
We may change these terms; the date above shows the latest version, and continued use after a change means you accept it. If the Service is discontinued, translation files already installed on your site keep working.
You can stop using the Service at any time with "Disable Babilim" in the plugin.
12. Law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of [OWNER: jurisdiction]. Questions: [OWNER: support e-mail].
